End of 2022 our paths crossed
to forever change our lives.

Vaibhav Kakkar

Born in the vast country of India,
on a Wednesday morning 27.03.1991.
Studied engineering in Chandigarh whereafter an MBA in Delhi and started working in various parts of India.
Until he decided on 03.12.2020 to cross the ocean and study another masters in Munich whereafter he stayed and started working.

Vanessa Moons

Born in the small country of Belgium,
on a Tuesday evening 16.01.1990.
Studied economics in Brussels with one year of Erasmus in Stoke-On-Trent whereafter the working years started around Brussels.
Until she decided on 31.01.2021 to move with Snowie (the cat) to Berlin for a new job opportunity.

Little did they know the impact of a dinner on 25.11.2022

A short introduction, a long night of ongoing talks and deep discussions, were the start of an interesting journey between Indian and Belgian culture.
Going from Indian restaurant dates to Christmas markets visits, to spontaneous coffee chats or having long and late-night phone calls.
Leading to some gorgeous trips to Italy, Austria, Cyprus, Belgium, Germany, India, Spain, Colombia, Netherlands and Croatia.
All while also going through some strong arguments, deep discussions as well as dealing with the loss of Luca (the dog).
With each step realising our similarities in humor, personality, upbringing, vision on life and even thinking the same things at the same time.
A bond that goes beyond any cultural differences and which grew stronger with every passing moment.
Being together, traveling to new places, discovering new foods, sharing our thoughts on everything and nothing, has been a blessing we never expected.

One beautiful morning, 18th May

We went on an excursion to one of the little islands nearby our stay in Rovinj. During the tour around the island, Vaibhav was strangely quiet. Vanessa didn’t understand why he seemed so distracted.

After the tour, we wanted to have a walk by ourselves and Vaibhav suggested, “Why don’t we go down here?”, pointing to a pile of rocks near the water. Vanessa logically questioned the idea, “Why would you want to go there, there is no walking path whatsoever, it’s just rocks.”

But Vaibhav insisted. He put his bag down and carefully set up the camera to take some selfies. Then, clumsily, he started searching for something in his pocket. In that moment, Vanessa realized…..

Finally (according to Vaibhav’s Indian standards) or already (according to Vanessa’s Belgian standards) he asked his long-awaited question, whereto an answer with water-filled eyes sounded “YES”.
And so, here we are, engaged and ready to start our new journey together.
