The Ceremonies

Below we gathered all the different ceremonies and rituals you might see during our wedding.

Civil Wedding

 is a marriage performed, recorded, and recognized by a government official
The mayor of Dilbeek will perform the ceremony at the castle De Viron on 24th of May at 12h30.

Mehndi

is a form of temporary skin decoration using a paste created with henna. In the West,
mehndi is commonly known as henna tattoo, although it is not a permanent tattoo.

Haldi

is a pre-wedding ritual in traditional Hinduweddings, involves family and friends applying
turmeric paste to the bride and groom. It symbolizes cleansing, purification, and the joyful
start of their new life together, while also protecting them from negative omens.

Phera

is one of the most important rituals in an Hindu wedding. The couple walks around a sacred
fire seven times, each round accompanied by a vow considered unbreakable
and deeply significant. (check here for more details)

Walking down the aisle

The bride walks down the aisle with her father while the groom waits at the altar.
Guests stand to greet the bride, then sit once the groom accepts her hand from her father,
marking the start of the ceremony.

Exchange of Vows

The ceremony master starts by welcoming the couple and the wedding guests.
After that, the ceremony master tells some stories about the couple, love and marriage.
Then, the couple exchange vows to each other.

Exchange of Rings

After the exchange of vows, the couple will exchange rings and the ceremony master will bless
them as symbols of love and fidelity.

The Opening Dance

It is the first public appearance of the newlyweds, and the dance represents the merging of two lives into one.
As they move together in harmony on the dance floor, it symbolizes their commitment to navigate life as a team,
supporting and complementing each other in their journey together.
And last but not least it signifies the start of the party.
